Are these purses authentic?
Yes.  Everything on this website is purchased directly from the manufacturer or prominent retailers and is 100% brand new and authentic.  Still unsure?  We offer the original $1000 Authenticity Guarantee.  If you find any of our bags are not genuine, send the purse back to us and we will send you a check for $1,000.00.

What is a Rookie Auction?
Rookie auctions are only for member who have not won an item from Penny Purses.  Members who have previously won one or more items from Penny Purses are ineligible to bid on Rookie Auctions.  This gives new users a better chance of winning great items.

What does a sudden death auction mean?
A sudden death auction means only five seconds will be added to the clock on every bid as opposed to the normal ten seconds.

What does Bid Not Received mean?
Every time you bid, your computer sends a little bit of information to our server, telling the server that you are requesting a bid to be placed at a very specific time during an auction.  This requires your computer and internet connection to be fast enough to keep up with other users who are also bidding on an auction.

You may see this error message if:

  • You have dial-up internet or a slow broadband connection
  • You are experiencing temporary internet connection lag
  • You are currently trying to download and/or stream video or audio while auctioning
  • Your browser version is outdated.  Please try using the latest version of Mozilla Firefox
  • Your computer is heavily inundated with programs, causing your browser to delay

Try closing out all programs and restarting your browser.  If you still experience Bid Not Received error messages, please contact us.

Do the purses come from PennyPurses or from individual sellers?
We auction the purses directly out of our office in Florida.  We do NOT use third-party sellers.  Once you win an auction, the item is packaged and shipped directly from us.

Is payment secure?
Yes.  Our storefront uses Paypal payment gateway which is utilizes the highest level of internet encryption - keeping your online transaction information 100% secure and private.

What brands do you offer?
Our brands vary depending on what is available, but we generally offer the newest designs from the highest quality manufacturers from Coach to Gucci.

How can you sell so cheap?
Penny Purses allows members to purchase bid packages for chances of winning high-priced items on our website.  If enough members purchase bid packages, this usually covers our cost of the item, depending on the level of interest on any given bag.  Generally, the final cost of the bag covers some of the shipping costs, which we do not charge you if you win an item.

Does your website automatically bid against other users?
Never.  We want to give you the best deal possible on your purse, even if that means we lose money on an item.

What is your shipping policy?
Shipping for the winning bidder is free of charge.  We generally ship UPS Ground.  If an auction ends before 12PM noon EST, the item will usually ship the same day.  Otherwise, orders will be shipped next day.  Shipping days are Monday through Friday.  We ship only within the USA and Canada.  No PO/APO/FPO addresses please.  We may charge shipping for items if you request expedited shipping or if we are shipping to Hawaii or Alaska, or Canada.

Where is Penny Purses located?
We are based out of Florida but ship to the USA and Canada.

Does Penny Purses have a storefront?
No, we are a 100% web-based organization.

Will my bids expire?
No.  If you purchase bids and only use a portion of them, your remaining bids will remain until you have used them all, at which time you can purchase an additional block of bids.

I won a bid package auction.  When will I receive bids?
If you win a bid package auction, your credited bids may take up to 8 hours or longer to be processed.

What is a Future Bid?
The Future Bid feature on the website will automatically make bids for you, even if you're not in front of your computer!  When the timer ticks very low, the system will automatically take a bid out of your account and place a bid on a bag of your choosing, giving you a chance to win a bag even if you're not available to bid on the bag directly.

How do Future Bids work?
Well, first of all you want to make sure there are some bids in your account.  Click on the photo of the item of your choosing.  In the detailed view, in the lower right hand corner of the page, under "Add a Future Bid" you will see three boxes.

  • Minimum Price:
This is the price in which you want your bids to start automatically drafting from your bids bank.  For example, if a bag is currently at $4.50, you might say you want your Future Bids to kick in at $5.00.  Simply add 5.00 into this field (without the "$" sign).

  • Maximum Price:
This is the price you want your bids to STOP automatically drafting from your account.  If you want your Future Bids to automatically draft until, say, the bag reaches $10.00, simply add the value 10.00 to this field (without the "$" sign).

  • Number of Bids to use:
This is the maximum amount of bids you want drafted from your account.  If you have 100 bids in your bids bank, and you only want to use 25 for a specific bag, simply enter "25" into this field.  If the current bag price is within the Minimum Price and Maximum Price you set above, and the timer gets really low, it will place a bid from your account until it's used up as many as you enter in the "Number of Bids" field.
